Driving Aids – Solutions for Reduced Mobility

Driving aids are adaptations that increase autonomy, safety, and quality behind the wheel. They allow people with reduced mobility or disabilities to drive with more confidence, through solutions tailored to each vehicle. This equipment helps overcome physical limitations and maintain driving independence in everyday life.

These solutions support those who face difficulties in driving, making the act of driving safer and more accessible.

Vehicle Adaptation - It is possible to adapt your vehicle to provide greater autonomy, safety, and driving quality.

Adaptations can be made to:
– Driving aids
– Swivel seats
– Seatbelts and transfer aids
– Chairtoppers, ramps, and hoists

Driving Aids

Who are they for? - Adaptations to overcome driving difficulties, suitable for people with reduced mobility or disabilities. Aids are subject to compatibility confirmation.

Compatibility - It is necessary to know the make, model, and year of the vehicle, as well as the type of gearbox, manual or automatic.

Delivery and Installation Times - As they are specific to each vehicle, adaptations can take approximately 3 to 4 weeks. Installation is carried out by certified technicians and takes approximately 2 working days.

Homologation - For most adaptations, vehicle homologation with the IMT (Institute for Mobility and Transport) is required. These modifications require a technical study and a transformation project to be submitted by the owner. The Vehicle Registration Certificate must reflect the adaptations made.

What can be adapted:
– Carospeed accelerator and brake
– Circular accelerator on the steering wheel
– Mechanical brake
– Quick-release accelerator inverter
– Pedal extension for automatic transmission cars
– 11-function steering wheel knob
– Ergo model knob
– 2-pin steering device
– 3-pin steering device

Carospeed accelerator and brake - Manual acceleration and braking system via a push & pull mechanism on the right side. Pull to accelerate and push to brake. It is compatible with most automatic transmission vehicles, does not alter the vehicle's structure, and does not prevent traditional driving by other users.

The Carospeed Classic is available in three versions:
– Accelerator and brake with basic functions
– Model with right and left indicators
– Model with electrical functions, including indicators, wipers, horn, headlights, and cruise control adjustment

Compatibility needs to be confirmed by the vehicle's make, model, and year.

Circular accelerator on the steering wheel - Electronic ring accelerator installed on the original steering wheel, activated by pressure. Suitable for people who cannot accelerate with their lower limbs. It can include a quick-release system to allow conventional driving. During braking, acceleration is automatically inhibited.

Mechanical brake - Manual lever installed over the brake pedal, allowing braking without using the lower limbs. It can be installed to the right or left of the steering wheel. The greater the force applied, the greater the braking. It is adaptable to any vehicle and easy to install or remove, without altering the vehicle's structure.

Note: the adaptation of a mechanical brake requires homologation by the IMT.

Advantages of the mechanical brake:
– Simple design solution
– Easy to install and use
– Comfortable driving position
– Suitable for all vehicles
– Maintains the vehicle's original structure
– Ergonomic design for continuous use

Quick-release accelerator inverter - Left-foot accelerator suitable for people with motor limitations in their right leg. It allows acceleration with the left foot and can be removed to restore the original function. Compatible with automatic transmission vehicles. Compatibility needs to be confirmed.

Pedal extension for automatic transmission car - Allows an extension between 10 and 30 cm, with adjustments in depth, height, and distance between pedals. It is easy to remove and can be installed in automatic and manual vehicles.

11-function steering wheel knob - Allows control of various electrical functions such as lights, indicators, horn, and wipers. It can be installed to the right or left of the steering wheel. Allows 360º driving with comfort. Includes a twilight sensor that activates the headlights and illuminates the keypad. It can be removed for normal driving.

Ergo model knob - Ergonomic, comfortable, and safe knob. The design adapts to the shape of the hand for easier driving.
